Dear FishBase Guestbook users,

Welcome to our new and improved site!

In the past, spammers have succeeded in making our guestbook unusable. Thus, in our aspiration to keep the site as simple as possible yet functional, we came up with this new version protected by a captcha system. We have checked and cleaned the database, keeping all good postings. However, note that the record numbers are tentative, we may need to change them in the coming months, and that the site is without registration at the moment. Please bear with us as we continuously develop this site to maximize service to fish enthusiasts all over the world. Feel free to comment on this version and make suggestions for improvements.

Lastly, may we clarify that the Guestbook is where you may express your thoughts about our website and/or provide comments on our work which donít necessarily need a response. If you wish to make technical comments and inquiries that needs scientific responses from experts in our team or other entities/groups that wishes to share their knowledge on the subject at hand, then you may use our Fish Forum for that purpose.

Our very best regards.

I am very happy that I found your website. I was camping at the Ningaloo Reef for a few days and encoutered in one Bay more than 100 Mantas Rays sizing from 40cm to 3,5m. As I have never heard or seen anything about such small (40cm) Mantas I am trying to find out about their pups. We have large congrugations of Mantas of up to 40 at the time and I did film for 90min a group of 17 adult Mantas sizing from 4,5 to 5,5m. We are 'used to' see the big one's but not so small one. As I was following this pup for almost 10min into really shallow water on my jetski there is no doubt that it was a Manta Ray. (I am using my jetski as a boat due its shallow draft and not for stunts) What species, I could not identify. Most of the Mantas were 60cm-1m and in groups between 2 and 6 at the time. Just a couple of big once were around. In the early morning and late afternoon they were chasing each other and jumping out of the water. All this happened in about 2-3m depth in a big lagoon. I hope to find more information and may some specialist can get in touch with me to give me any more information. Happy New Year, and Kind regards Axel Passeck Director Sea Breeze Resort Padi OWD Instructor and UW Videographer

Great site! Perfect for the novice and the professional hobbyist. I had some trouble decyphering some of the statistics, so I recommend a key for us first time users(and if you did have a key, I'm sorry for being too lazy to find it ^_^ ), but other than that, I'd say you have all the information you need to know about the various species that an aquarium owner might keep and more. Keep up the good work!

This is the best site for fish information. I love how if you don't know the common name, you can search for it and vice versa with the scientific name. The information is thorough and answers any questions I might have about a particular species. The data on this site is fantastic. Keep up the great work! You are appreciated!

This is great, but I still can't find the Blue Flame Tetra. The search functions are flawless, loading time is very good for the volume of data available.
