Description : I'm a working marine ecologist in Fiji, pretty good at fish ID. Just came across the attached fish on and outer reef slope bommie in Beqa Lagoon at about 7m depth.
To me it looks a lot like Chromis analis, but the colour was bronze with an orange parch on the head. There were about 20 of these all togather on one patch of reef.
Is it a breeding colouration or a fish I don't know? Note that photos were taken without flash with a point and shot camera, actual seen were much brighter than indicated here.
All opinions welcome.
